Our approach to sustainability

At Delicia we believe we make life delicious, only if everyone in our value chain can live a decent live. From the cocoa farmer in Ghana to the consumer at their breakfast table, and from our colleagues in the factory to our value chain partners: Everyone deserves a pleasant aftertaste of the sandwich with chocolate sprinkles, or any other product we make.

Our corporate social responsibility is not just something on the side. Is it embedded in everything we do. By joining the UN Global Compact we show our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals. And our Ecovadis Silver Medal? Is shining on our wall of fame, although we are definitely aiming for gold.

Sustainable energy

Gas free. Full speed ahead.

Energy, we love it! The good kind of course. Since 2020 our site runs on green energy, generated by dutch wind. Solar panels are shining on our rooftop and in 2024 we said NO to natural gas. An add-on heat pump keeps our factory running. Delicia is officially gas-free.

We keep a close watch on our carbon footprint. Not only in our factory, but also in our value chain. We work energy efficient, measure our impact and committed ourselves to independent climate goals. Because decreased dependency on fossil fuels means increased control and security in uneasy energy-times. 

Responsible raw materials

Consciously delicious

Chocolate starts with cocoa. And this involves choices. We choose consciously. For certified cocoa, sustainable palm oil and sustainable packaging. For suppliers who know their value chain and have a meaningful impact for a better world.

Child labour, deforestation and living income are salient issues in our value chain. That’s why we are involved in initiatives that focus on making a real change. Such as supporting The Hunger Project to combat these salient issues. In the meantime we reduce our own waste. The less food is wasted, the more value is created out of our raw materials. Clever AND Responsible.

 

Responsible employment

Employees that are looked after, last longer

Our employees are Delicia's driving force. 

That’s why we look after each other. Safe and healthy working conditions, and development opportunities, we believe it’s important. And so we invest, in education, healthy lifestyle programs and career development.

Via our employee satisfaction survey, we check annually how our colleagues feel about our company. The results? We share them open and transparent. With six prevention colleagues and a strong first-aid team we keep our working space safe and healthy for everybody. Because sustainable working conditions mean a happy work force, tomorrow and the days after.
